- By F.Ferrari
“This facility – that we consider one of the bests, if not the best, in Europe – has been working since 2006 and is now working at full speed, thanks to its advanced technology and innovative automation.”
These are the satisfied words of Lorenzo Levoni, who is here at Prosciuttificio Il Conte, in Bazzano Parmense, a little village lost in green hills. The prosciuttificio is a model of efficiency and rationality, with a productive capacity that amaze even the most wordly-wise workers of the sphere.

In fact, in this facility with all the latest and most sophisticated technologies, more than 25.000 hams per week are processed and cured, which means 100.000 per month and 1 million 200.000 per year!
The latest solutions, both from an economic and functional point of view as well as from an environmental friendly point of view, were applied to each processing phase.
This lead, in just a couple years, to the current excellent results, both in productivity and quality.
The goal has been achieved.
“We’re really happy indeed – says Lorenzo, Alcar Group sales manager – we keep on studying in order to mantain and confirm the quality standards of our hams, which we are proud of and with which we plan to carry on.”
As far as we can see walking through the plant, it won’t be too hard for Il Conte to reach the aim they settled: tidiness, space, neatness, a family atmosphere reign supreme.
The main team, formed by Santino Levoni – the founder of Alcar Uno – and his son Lorenzo, together with Giorgio and Arturo Bedani, their clear ideas and their excellent co-workers bode well for the future. They will definitely be able to face incognitos, competitors, mutations on the economic world stage, and to offer reliability to national and international customers.

The outstanding numbers we mentioned are an unquestionable proof of competitiveness, which will be relevant at an international level, where the associates plan to be more and more present.
Export currently covers 10/15% of the turnover, most of all towards France, Germany and Eastern Europe; however, their attention is slowly focusing on further areas, just as China, Japan, USA and Southern America.
“We are getting ready and we sure don’t lack of optimism. What we created here is undoubtedly a good starting point.”
